unless you can tell me how hard i can prune a very old honey suckle i am just off there as well!

I don't know the technical answer, but I've given mine a pretty hefty hack and it's sprung back.

Then again my gardening tends to go along the "kill or cure" lines at times , so you might not want to follow too closely if you're very attached to the plant!

what ever the right or wrong way...... mine had a hefty hack today as well..... fingers crossed!

Lionbeast, if your into growing fruit and veg, Kitchengarden.co.uk is very good for advise.

Fordfiesta, i hacked a jasmine once, not even knowing what it was, and it was like a miracle, it grew into a lush plant with thousands of flowers almost overnight. Can remember wonderful balmy wine sodden evenings basking in the beautiful fragrance.(don't live there anymore)

Wish you a similar miracle with your honeysuckle. I'd say you've done the right thing.
