What is eating my plants?

We have just moved to a new house in the UK.

This border doesn't really get any direct sun and remains fairly damp despite the recent sunshine. It all looked lovely when we moved in but after a few weeks there is clearly "something" destroying the plants. Can any of you green fingered lot help me out with what it might be and, more importantly, what I need to do to get rid of it. Fuschia is unaffected, but the hollyhock, mint and "flowers" (dahlias??) are getting trashed.

We do have a cat if that affects any of the remedial suggestions.

Thanks in advance!

Slugs & snails. They like some plants and not others. You can buy traps for them that you fill with beer, into which they fall and drown. Better than using slug pellets.

Forgot to say - the mint might be caterpillar damage. Just cut that back and it will soon regrow.

Thank you @Katmai

Only recently back in the UK after several years abroad so still finding my way around the garden. I'll look into getting some traps.
