Can someone please help me identify what I've just discovered in my garden! No amount of googling is helping

Elephant Hawk moth caterpillar! Lucky you! There have been a few other posts about this recently. I think they are looking for somewhere to pupate currently.

Is it the worm from the Labryinth? 🤔

Christ, it looks enormous! And like someone has stuck googly eyes in it

Wow you’re so lucky! Elephant hawk moth. I’ve been looking for years but never found one. It turns into a lovely pink moth!

Ahhh so envious! I've never found one despite always looking. If you have any tall willowherb or Fuchsias nearby, put it gently on one of those - it's its food plant. The adult moths are stunning as others have said.

I found two the year before last, and put them in a box with some Fuchsia leaves to keep them away from the cats. Once they pupated, I transferred them to a box of dry leaves, and kept them through to the following May when they both hatched out into moths

Also found one of these today! In a car park so I moved it to some bushes. Hopefully it will find somewhere safe to go
