Cat pooing in garden- help

Just been into the front garden with toddler and found 6 or 7 cat poos on the lawn so had to take him away while we remove them. Only seems to be on the lawn, can't see anything on the weed filled flower bed!

We don't have a cat but I have spotted a cat a couple of times which we have shooed away but can't be on 24/7 patrol. We only mowed it last week so it's all been since then and we haven't had this problem before.

We love the birds and wildlife which we don't want to lose but we want to stop the cat coming in and want to do something that is safe for toddler as well. Any ideas?

Thanks

Are you sure it’s not hedgehog or fox or something?
Whilst it’s not impossible for it to be a cat, it would be unusual, the majority will go in loose Earth so they can cover it after they finish.

That's fair, I'm not certain, I did catch a cat doing it last week but I thought it was a one off and I guess when I saw them all today I assumed cat. Could be fox, I imagine it's too big for hedgehog!

I did think it was odd being in the grass, the grass is thick and although short at the minute grows long very quickly so maybe it uses the grass? I don't know much about cats obviously!
