Why Do My Sweet Peas Always Do This?

This is about the 4th or 5th year where my sweet peas seem to die from the base upwards after a few months. Would like them to continue to grow and flower in September but alas...

I have a few pots of them, different varieties, all differently spaced out, holes in the bottom of the pots for drainage, they get some miracle grow when I remember (maybe once per month). I'm in Scotland and it's still relatively mild. I've been picking them to encourage more to grow.

Anyone got any ideas?

Mine are in the ground and they always do this, they’ve been flowering their hearts out since the end of May. I do feed and water them well, but they are now just about giving up. I don’t think they are designed to go through to Autumn.

Mine do this.

That's just their lifespan

Mine have just done this. I've harvested all of the seeds for next year.

One lot of mine haven’t flowered at all. The other lot flowered for ages and then did the same as your picture.

Mine are doing that now.

Thanks for the replies, glad it doesn't seem to be anything I'm doing wrong but disappointed they're so fleeting

Maybe next year you could sow them in two batches so you have some later ones as well?
