Cherry Laurel hedge growing randomly

I got cherry Laurel bushes put in by a gardening company over a year ago and they are growing really unevenly- not sure if there is anything I can do to help the growing process of the ones in the corner? I’m guessing it’s because they’re not getting as much sun although our garden is south facing and gets sun all day long. Obviously they were watered a lot after being planted and I’m stripping the weeds back on a constant basis. I have absolutely no gardening experience or knowledge so any advice would be welcome please.

also should I be cutting them back to an even height all the way round of just keep letting them grow unevenly for now? TIA

I'm not a gardener, but id put a load of compost on the ones in the corner to encourage growth.

This is completely normal. In the autumn, cut back the longer branches, that will encourage denser bushier growth. Once they have reached the thickness you want, cut back to that line on an annual basis. Same with height.

The hedges you are used to seeing have been pruned so that they become thick and dense over time, they all start out straggly.

We've got a hedge of this we planted ten years ago. We put well rotted manure around the bottom twice a year. It works miracles

Prune the taller ones back until the smaller ones have caught up.
