Hydrangea not flowering

Me again ๐Ÿ™ˆ my first summer with all these plants so lots of trial and error. I was gifted this hydrangea plant, itโ€™s in partial shade, has had lots of torrential rain this summer but now flowered. What have I done wrong? For reference I have a little lime hydrangea in an adjacent bed and itโ€™s very happy? So the soil seems to agree with them. Thanks in advance for any advice.

It's very little still so it probably just needs this year to get established. I'd just leave it and wait to see what it does next year.

Agree, it looks tiny. Wouldn't expect flowers at this size.

It probably needed far more water earlier in spring when it was so hot.
Hydrangeas need huge volumes of water, the clue is in their name, especially when young.
It will probably flower prolifically next year! ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿป

Ok thank you all! Do I need to be giving it a particular feed? Or just plenty of watering?

Nothing in particular other than making sure it has plenty of water. I don't feed any of my plants in the ground (but am on clay soil which is pretty nutrient rich). I do feed my hydrangea in a large pot, just with a general tomato feed every so often once it's flowering.

Mine didnโ€™t flower this year. It normally does and Iโ€™ve not moved it. Iโ€™m hoping itโ€™s a weather blip!
