Why does my rose bush look like this?

It's flowered well this summer so no complaints there, but now it's looks terrible! What could it be?

There's probably sawfly or something.

But as an aside - the pot looks quite small for a rose, especially a climber. They are greedy and need feeding a lot and a big pot.

My climbing rose is in a pot about 2 foot square.

Thanks so much. Yes the pot is temporary, I'm going to plant it in the ground.

My roses are similar - they had a good start this year but weeks of rain and no sun mean they seem to have severe rust, black leaves, yellowing,everything. As do the broad beans which normally do well.
