What’s up with my autumn fruiting raspberry?

So I planted out an autumn fruiting raspberry from the garden centre just over a month ago. But literally from the day after we planted it we’ve had endless torrential rain. Don’t know if that has impacted it but there doesn’t seem to be any sign of anything coming? Or am I too early expecting to see signs of fruit? Anything I can do to coax it along? Should add it’s the Autumn Bliss variety

I wouldn’t expect much from it until next year. It'll be growing roots now, not top growth and fruits.

Agree, don't expect it to fruit this year. Sorry!

Ok thank you both! At least I have an idea what to expect now. Hopefully DH doesn’t notice since I assured him when buying all these fruit plants it’d be 100% worth it 😂 so far I have a black currant and now two types of raspberry that won’t fruit til next year lol

Our raspberries didn't do much year 1 but are great now.....cover them though (we have a fruit cage) because the birds will get to them first!

It will definitely be worth it! Once they get going, you can do mixed pruning of autumn raspberries and get 2 crops a year from them - 1 in June-July and 1 in September-October. https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2018/feb/04/double-your-raspberry-crop-its-a-snip

Double your raspberry crop: it’s a snip

A single simple trick will result in two flushes of fruit, says James Wong

It’s a good idea to carefully cut off the green plastic tape as this will strangle the plant’s stem as it grows. Use soft gardening twine to tie it to the supports. Happy gardening!

@FarFarAwayB I will do that today, thank you! Thanks everyone, roll on next year 😂
