How do I keep these edges neat? Pic attached

Looking for ideas of how to keep my borders as neat as possible. The constantly sprout grass and weeds at an alarming rate.

DH and I work full time & have two kids (with lots of hobbies) so don't get much time to be out in the garden except the odd weekend. Our garden is quite high maintenance (not our choice!) so we are constantly trying to change things up so they look nice but don't get overgrown so quickly.

Any tips of how to suppress things a bit would be great. Also any tips to generally lower the garden Maintainence (other than getting a gardener - we can't afford that!).

The line of the tools is where the edge originally was!!

You can use a lawn edging tool. If you want a straight edge, then stretch a piece of string across and use it as a guide.

To stop it growing back over though you need some sort of edging. I have brick edging. The borders are also thickly barked to suppress the weeds.

you can use any edging, they have log rolls, brick, concrete with rope twist tops, plastic or metal edging you just hammer in. It saves a lot of work in the long run.

Or you and let the grass right up to the bushes so the bushes are in effect spilling over the edge of the lawn.

Dense planting is the best way to deter/conceal weeds
