Leylandii

We have these leylandii trees which we are hopefully having removed in September. The previous owner of the house left them for 30 years and now they are unmanageable and dead in the middle.

Has anyone got any suggestions of a fast growing hedge or any ideas what to do as we are concerned about the loss of privacy.

Thank you, I think this will be my best bet!

Laurel is as useless to wildlife as leylandi and a pain in the arse to prune.

I’d put a native hedge in there, even if you put whips in you’d only have to wait a couple of years before it was a proper hedge that would be full of blossom and berries and feed nature. If you want to block windows you could put in a few strategically placed trees for instant cover.

well done on getting rid of the leylandii though, they’re bloody awful!
