Is there such a thing as a weed killer which is safe for cats?

What weeds are you trying to kill?

If it's in an area with nothing you want to keep, ie patio vs a lawn, then I have recently discovered boiling water from the kettle is far superior than a conventional weedkiller.

What/where are you trying to kill? Brambles and bindweed need something stronger compared to a buttercup for instance.

Quick google brings this up, worth a try.

Safest is physical controls like hoeing, a heat/flame gun, or boiling water - just keep the kitty away while you're doing it!

Safety of glyphosate is disputed, but I wouldn't worry about occasionally using it in a garden, though it's best to keep kitty away until it's dried/absorbed. It can be hard to find now anyway.

A lot of "weedkillers" now are just soapy vinegar water, so read the ingredients. You'd probably be better off making your own and then you can use a non-toxic detergent. It won't have any root-killing action though so it'll need re-applying each time the plant grows back.

Thank you all for coming back to me. It is my driveway - never thought of boiling water, and vinegar also sounds like a good bet. Will give both a go - thanks so much!

Neither vinegar nor boiling water are likely to kill the roots of the weeds, they will just come back. Driveways and gravelled areas are a pain to keep weed free.
