Drain cover in lawn.

Hi all,

I was wondering if I could ask for advice.

Has anyone managed to find and use a realistic AstroTurf drain cover for a drain that was placed in the middle of a (real) lawn? I know generally Astro turf is frowned upon, but in this instance I think it’s the least bad option.

Its not in an area that can easily be disguised unfortunately.

I am just a bit nervous of ending up with a very obvious lurid green patch, that sticks out like a sore thumb. However, I know there are lots of different types that are supposed to be more realistic, just not sure whether that’s marketing hype.

To be honest, I'd cover it with bark chips and stand a large pot on it.

Lawns change colour according to moisture levels, so if your astro turf matches at one time, there will by other times when it doesn’t.

Also, lawns grow. So unless you’re mowing several times a week, your astro turf will spend part of its time sowing up as shorter than the rest and possibly part of the time longer than the rest

Your lawn will look like it has a toupee.
