Has anyone had plants from one of those gardening express bargain selection of plug/small plants? I saw an add a few days ago but worried that it's a bit late in the season for small plants?

There's another thread here where someone has bought £40 worth of perennials. Sorry can't link, but it's called something like that. She's posted pics of what she got and there are lots of helpful comments.

Yes in my previous home I bought 70 plug plants and about 20 were poor/dead so I was sent another 70! I found anything that resembled a pot/ toilet rolls, etc. and potted them. It took a very long weekend along but then planting into the ground after a few weeks took longer. But the results were amazing!

I got 40 plug plants for £29.99 on this deal and shared them with 3 other people. The 12 I put in are going amazingly! I have 2 Hostas doing brilliant already, a peony, asters, echinacea, ranunculus, geranium and more I can't remember now haha. Go for it, I'm finding the season is running late this year anyway (with all my usual plants flowering about 3-4 weeks later than usual this year). I'd do it again for another order if I had more space/ pots. Go halves with a friend perhaps and enjoy!

I've just placed a small order with them. Mine was for 10 bare root Café au Lait dahlias for £10, plus I bought a few other bits and bobs in their sale. I've never ordered from them before. They should arrive today or tomorrow so will update on the quality!

I’ve just had 5 lucky dip patio fruit trees for £10. One is showing signs of life, fingers crossed!

I bought a whole load of bare roots in the sale from them a couple of weeks ago, not expecting much, but the peonies I shoved in a pot are already shooting up, as are the hostas.

I don't imagine they'll all do the business but think it's worth a punt for the price.
