Hi everyone,

I live in a new build property and the contractors have put in the ugliest sparse bushes (?!) in the front garden, I can't stand them as they just look so messy.

What could I put here instead? Thinking maybe English lavender? Or is there anything else? Hoping for a bit of colour or something that's fairly pretty and will fill out.

Pictures of what others look like would be nice if possible! Thanks 😊

They just need to grow and fill out.

Have a look at gardenthirtythree on Instagram, her front garden borders are lovely (to me anyway! 😁)

What way does the garden face? You need a fair bit of sun for lavender. But agree with pp, those just need time to fill out.

If you like those other than their sparseness/messiness, prune each of the long shoots to about 2/3 or 1/2 of their length. That will tidy them up in the short term, and make them become bushier and denser in the long term.
