How to tame this lavender?

We’ve been away on holiday for a few weeks and our lavender seems to have gotten out of control. It’s starting to flower so I’m a bit loathe to cut it back too much but also it’s swamping other plants. What can we do to tame it?

Ringmaster's whip?

Wait until it is in flower and then cut back the sideways-growing bits. You'll then have loads of flowers to have in a vase in the house, and the rest of it will be growing upwards.

It is going to look fab, and I'd be more tempted to move the other plants out of its way.
