In my area the roses have been amazing so far.
What about your area ?
Is it a good year for the roses in your garden ?

Yes. Our roses are blooming far more then ever before - though they are now 3-4 years old so it might be a case of them reaching a size and maturity for good blooms.

Also, no greenfly. Which may be an isssue in itself, especially for birds etc. But the roses seem to be benefitting from it.

Yep. I had one which was on its last warning. If it didn't flower this year I was going to move it. Absolutely full of flowers.

Yes, fantastic! Lots of spiders - seem to be keeping the aphids away...

Also a willow tree has established itself in the garden and the caterpillars love it! Great decoy.

Yes, looking amazing, although unfortunately got battered by the heavy rain yesterday and I spent this morning trying to prop them up again with plant supports.

it's been feast or famine - I did lose some things I thought were indestructible (rudbeckia goldsterm for example) and everything took a bit longer than usual to get going but I'm about to spend the rest of the afternoon deadheading the thalictrum which has been spectacular, and the roses; the clematis are rampant.

Could really do with the rain we were promised but otherwise it's all very good indeed.

@JaneJeffer - I know the song and that's why I put it in the title Smile

My 4yo Amazing Day rose is having its finest moment too! Very floriferous and healthy. Although, the scent is not as strong as it ought to be. Has anyone notice this on theirs?

MereDintofPandiculation · 19/06/2023 20:27

Yes, stunning here in Yorkshire.

i’ve got great displays on Alistair Stella Gray, another rambler with tiny pink flowers in clusters, Emily Gray, and a second Alistair Stella Gray I grew from a cutting and thought had been overwhelmed by the vegetation. I was stunned to see a hawthorn tree with a cascade of apricot blossoms down it.

Yes, everything's gone berserk and looks beautiful, favourite is a climbing rose Félicité de perpétuité I think. I only planted it last year.

Thought it was my fantastic gardening skills but apparently it's down to the weather conditions this last year!

Never heard that song before, love it! Yes, I've noticed it's been a good year for the Roses here too. Beautiful!

dubyalass · 20/06/2023 20:16

I've noticed this with all the wild roses and ramblers round my way - just spectacular and full of bees and hoverflies.

Yes! Best year yet for ours. We have around 35 different rose bushes, and this two tone pink one is my latest purchase and probably my favourite.
