What can I replace my crispy astilbes with?

For the second year running, most of my large lush patch of astilbes has turned crispy. I think I have to accept that thanks to a combination of weather, the neighbours improving their drainage and me planting a crab apple tree, my shady damp border is now a shady dry border where astilbes will no longer thrive. (And a big clump of phlox maculata has vanished without trace.Sad)

Any ideas what I can replace them with?

Don't bin them

Dig up and move or put into pots

Cut them right down, they will come back next year

First on the GW list Japanese anemones - yeah, they're the other thing in that bed, trying to take it over!Grin
Some good ideas in there, I'd not thought of astrantias - I keep meaning to get some but hadn't realised they'd be ok in shade.
