Looking at the clematis/rose post inspired me to ask about the front of my house.
I’d love to grow something up it, but if faces directly north.
is there anything that would work there?
looking for climber, flowers, not fussed on colours. Just something pretty

You can grow both climbing roses and clematis up a north facing wall. Just need to get the right ones. Have a look at David Austin Roses and Google specialist Clematis nurseries and they can advise you on which kinds will work for your conditions.

Rosa Madame Alfred Carriere would work well on a north facing large wall.

I have New Dawn climbing on a North facing wall, it’s currently full of blooms.

Climbing hydrangea? It is self clinging and has very pretty flowers and is great for wildlife. You can even get a peachy pink flowered one now.

I have roses veilchenblau and rambling rector, and climbing hydrangea on a north facing fence. They are wonderful. Got the roses from David Austin roses.

Was also going to say Climbing Hydrangea - pretty white flowers and not too vigorous a climber (am looking at you, Virginia Creeper).
