Dandelion clocks

(Apologies for a possible stupid question!)

Our dandelions are blooming straight into clocks, without a stage of being yellow flowers first. I was under the impression they had at least a few days of yellow before dying off and being left with clocks after the flower phase is over. Have a been wrong all these years?

They close up after flowering and before becoming clocks. Could you have missed the yellow flower stage?
