These have been indoors and this one plant has been attacked.

I would check under the pots for tiny slugs.

That’s interesting as they are indoors!

having said that, DD found a slug on her arm while sitting on the sofa near the shelf with the plants near the patio doors.😱

I had very similar damage to the chilli plants in my polytunnel. I moved some of them onto the (gravel) floor, and the rest I added a layer of grit to the top of the compost. Slugs don't like moving over sharp things, so hopefully this will stop them. I have also ordered some nematodes, but that would be overkill for your house! (We also had indoor slugs once, it turned out a corner of a window frame had rotted and they were finding their way in . There are few things worse than standing on a slug!).

Look under the pot- normally it’s tiny slugs that hang out underneath.

I wouldn't do salt - the roots will take it up when you water. Just check regularly for little slugs and also aphids - chillies are really prone to them
