Will a push mower cut 10 inch grass

My grass doesn't look very long but I measured it and it's approximately 10 inches. Here is a picture. You can't see it properly from here.

I bought a push mower online. Would a push mower cut this. I hope to cut it at the weekend.

The grass looks quite thin so it's probably ok.

10 inches is getting towards halfway up my shin. My electric mower would need grass to be strimmed before tackling grass 10 inches high, it doesn’t look all that long tbh.
However, as pp said, it’s pretty sparse, out of interest how much was your push mower? Only asking because my new electric one was cheaper than the push one I saw, only by around a fiver mind, my one was on offer.

My grass was longer than that and my push mower got through it, took ages and was hard work, but it cut it.

When I need to cut longer grass, I do two 'pushes' for each pass. For the first, I tip the mower up on its back wheels, so that the front ones are off the ground. That reduces the length of the grass. Then I do a second push with all wheels on the ground, which then shortens it to the desired length..

This!

Are you sure it's 10 inches? It doesn't look that long.

From the pic, yes you should be able to as it's quite wispy. Be prepared for it to take a few goes to get it to an even level.

I used a measuring tape. It's definitely 10 inches. It doesn't look that long from the picture but the grass is approx 10 inche in height.

OK - if it has height adjustment then set the blades to the highest point.

Thank you for all of the replies. I was anxious maybe it wouldn't cut the grass.

The mower I bought was a husqvarna and it was expensive. It has a height adjustment. I was going to buy an amazon basic one but apparently a spanner was needed to adjust the blades.

Yes the mower I bought has a height adjustment.

If it's too long when you try you could whip over it with a strimmer first

Thabk you for this tip.

I had overlooked the fact that you have a push mower, rather than an electric one. I can't imagine my tip working with that. Sorry.

Thank you for your reply. Don't worry. Hopefully I will still be able to use the machine this weekend anyways.

I don't have a grass trimmer but that's on my list of next to buy.

This is another picture of the grass I have. I know you can't see the length very well here.

Do you think it would still work.

The mower is being delivered to me today but I will be in work til late so it will be tomorrow by the time I get a chance to try it.

It really doesn't look nearly a foot high. My grass is regularly a lot longer than yours looks and our electric push mower manages fine.

Set the height to take the minimum off first and get the first layer off. You can then adjust as needed
