Farmer Gracy - Echinacea 'Rainbow Marcella' "Coneflower"

Hi, I purchased the above from FG along with five other perennials, the others have sprouted but not the echinacea. I have emailed them but not heard back yet. Does any green fingered gardener out there have any idea?

No idea about that particular plant, but one of the summer bulbs I bought from FG last year didn’t grow and they replaced it without a quibble.

Did the instructions say to surface sow? It might take a while, and they might need a couple of periods of cold to germinate. Basically, they're a bit of a faff but kinda worth a go as if it works it's a very cheap way to get perennials.

I’ve had quite a few problems with FG bare to perennials recently. You will hear from them and I’m pretty sure they replace the Echinacea for you if they have it in stock. In my case, I had one Echinacea, which failed to develop a crown, three different geraniums, when they should have been all the same, and a nepeta which failed to develop a crown.

They didn’t have any of the original plants in stock to replace them with, and so sent a lucky dip selection of replacements. Of these, one was so desiccated that there was nothing in the bag to plant, and another was again such a poor specimen that I can see it is unlikely to develop a crown. As none of the replacements were what I planned for my garden Ihave now given up with online ordering for the foreseeable.

*bare root plants

I bought the Fatal Attraction echinacea bare root from them. It has grown well, but I'm sure they'll help if yours hasn't. They seem like a good company. I've started ordering tulip bulbs from them every year.

My Alaska Rivers bare roots from them have been good too. Thought I'd put a good word in as others have had bad experiences

(Those are geraniums)

I've found their bare roots to be good value but I can't get echinacea to grow regardless of where I buy it. I've tried seeds, bare roots and plants. None of it flourished. I'm giving plug plants another go and then if they fail I'll accept it's not a plant I'm meant to grow/ they hate my soil.
Online plants with good service though- just had a clematis replaced by the RHS 8 months after we bought it under their plant guarantee which I was impressed with.

Thanks everyone ☺️. I still haven't heard from them, I will send a reminder. I've also put an order for tulip bulbs, hopefully they'll be OK.
