What is Gordon's real name?

A couple of years ago, a friend swapped some plants with me. I was in a hurry and didn't really listen to the names of some of them. When it came to labelling them (so I can see where they are in Winter), I just called the plant Gordon and thought I would work it out in the Spring. I can't find what it is from the information I have and have lost touch with the friend.

It has pinkish bottlebrush-type flowers and the leaves look a lot like dock. It flowers for a long time and I would like to grow some more, but I need to know what I'm looking for first. Does anyone know what Gordon's real name is please? (Please ignore the weedy border, I've been distracted by planting 145 cauliflowers!)

I think it's Bistort.
Possibly Gordon Bistort

I know him as Percy persicaria.

Thank you! I will re-write his label!

I love this! We can have an Unidentified Gordon support thread! Do you have a photo?

It is also known as Common Bistort, Redlegs, Knotweed, Gentle Dock and is, in fact, very closely related to Common Dock and Sorrels
