Photinia not flowering

I planted a couple of photinias a year ago. They were 2'-3' tall and have doubled in height and spread. But they have not flowered at all.

All the other photinias I'm seeing right now are covered in flowers - why aren't mine flowering?

Too soon. They are using all their energy to establish themselves and grow plenty of roots at the moment. Give it another couple of years.

DM’s have just flowered for the first time and she has had them around 5 years.

Are they in full sun? Seemingly if they are shaded they may not flower.

Not in full sun.

I see smaller photinias in bloom. But perhaps they've been planted for longer.

So I will continue cherishing them and wait.

Look up the right time to prune them, as it is easy to prune flowering shrubs at the wrong time of year and end up with no flowers.

I didn’t know photonias flowered!! I’ve had one for years- in full sun- and it’s never flowered. It’s a lovely bush anyway (even if it’s not behaving itself and flowering)

Interestingly, the two I have in shade have flowered and the three I have in the sun haven't 🤔
I like them sans flower anyway so not too fussed.

Mine has flowered (spectacularly) this year. I didn't even know it was supposed to and I've had it about 6 years.

Weirdly, I’m not fussed if mine flowers or not. I love it for the year-round colour (I’ve got the Pink Marble variety as well as the usual Red Robin).

This year, they’ve both exploded with blooms, which seems odd considering the rubbish spring we’ve had.

I think they look nicer when not in flower. And am not a fan of the scent 🤮
