Potatoes - too late?

Am I too late to plant potatoes in containers if I get them in this weekend?
I'm in the south if that makes a difference. I've just found some barrels that would be perfect as long as it's not a complete waste of time trying!

No, you’re fine get them in as soon as you can.

I planted mine at the weekend. Last year I planted them the first weekend in May and they were fine, dug up in early October and most were a decent size with a few tiddlers!
