It’s a different species! I guess you mean that it has similar habits, but that’s a bit like calling a squirrel a “tree rat”. Just because it self seeds, is too big for a garden and looks a bit like a sycamore doesn’t make it a sycamore!
I’m having a hard enough battle here with all the people who can’t be bothered to take a proper look at the leaf, without comments like “sycamore with a fancy name”
