Best mainstream retailer to buy compost?

Will be starting my own pile for next year as I’ve just moved into a new house but in the mean time have some poor old borders that the builder helpfully ‘scraped’ clean for me (he had not, on one of them, recognised that a lot of work had gone into creating a ‘wild’ border - he meant so well in removing my ‘weeds’ of which in fairness there were a lot) .

Still a lot of dense weeds like dock etcso going to clear as much as I can, cover them with cardboard and put compost over that

I need to know where is good value to buy a lot of compost - Tesco, Lidl or B&Q? No bulk deliveries here from what I can see.

I’m sure there will be someone fairly local, ask at your local garden centre or local Facebook pages.

You could also try compost direct.

B&q are 100% peat free

I use Compost direct they are very good

Not compost but I got big bags of bark chippings from b&m for covering cardboard that were relatively cheap.

compost direct look completely amazing but it’s not clear if they deliver to NI (using the old ‘U.K. mainland’ when I wish they would say GB)

sorry I should have said I’m in NI which is why I was looking at the main retailers as they have shops here - post brexit I’m not even sure you’re allowed to transport loose compost to NI, there are certainly huge restrictions around ordering plants online. The chain retailers get around it as their businesses are big enough I suppose to cope with the paperwork.

ive been searching the compost direct site to see if they do deliver here but can’t find confirmation either way - I’ll email them but I’d be surprised.
