So ive used straw as a mulch for the first time and it has seeds that have started to sprout and now having the opposite effect in my vegetable bed than id wanted. It was from pets at home if that makes a difference. Does this happen with any straw? Of have i used the wrong kind or just got a bad batch? Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Was it sold as mulch or was it sold as pet bedding?

There's always a chance of seeds being left - we buy actual tonnes of straw (by the wagon load) every year for agricultural use and there's always loads of seeds still in it and in the right conditions it can get a bit sprouty.

In small bags from PAT is a very expensive way of buying it for gardening tbh.
