How do you sow chive seeds?

Guessing you don’t need to thin as one seed equals 1 sprig?

Our DGD aged 4 threw a packet of chive seeds onto an empty planter last Autumn. This spring we’ve got loads of Chive plants. I’m sending her to apprentice with Monty Don.
I’ve potted them on in clumps, they’re fine if you do this and make lovely dense plants.
