Cosmos, am I to late?

I did cosmos last year in early April in the greenhouse, this year since moving house I have had other projects going on in new.garden I've just left it, forgot and now I've read it's to late to do them inside in greenhouse and that I should just direct sow in may, is this right? If so I will have to get protection for slugs in the beds that the seeds will be planted

Any advice on this and do they do just as well being direct sown?

I find direct sewing in May gives more plants. The slugs have plenty to feed on so don't bother them as much.

I’ve just sown mine indoors. May is when you can sow outside, not when you have to sow outside. If slugs are a problem, sowing indoors and planting out when they’re larger may be better
