Got this growing. Popping up all over some side of the garden. Any ideas what it is?!

I think it’s wall pellitory.

ChrisPPancake · 30/04/2023 21:59

Does it smell? Could be something minty maybe?

SunnySomer · 30/04/2023 22:02

Strong smell? I can’t remember the name, but I have it, it spreads via a massive root system, disappears over winter then pops up everywhere in spring. It’s v difficult to remove - I keep trying to remove the b extensive roots - so will watch this thread to see if wise people have advice

Maybe Enchanters Nightshade - Circaea lutetiana, not related to Nightshade! It can be a persistent weed with fleshy white roots, and will sprout from any root fragments.

It looks like busy lizzie leaves to me. Wait til it flowers.

Enchanter’s nightshade, Circaea lutetiana. Not Pellitory of the Wall which has alternate leaves not leaves in opposite pairs. @SunnySomer I think is thinking of Hedge Woundwort but that has hairy leaves. Leaves do look a bit like Bizzie Lizzie, but that’s not hardy so the only way it would be there is if OP planted it. Bizzie Lizzie again has alternate leaves which rules it out.
