Lime trees (linden)

Hi all. I planted 10 lime trees (lindens) along driveway last summer. One of them seems to be struggling. The buds on it are not getting bigger or greener and are the same as they have been all winter. The other trees all have signs of good growth. I did a scratch test and the tree is green under the bark. Is there still a chance that this tree could survive do you think?

Perhaps lots of water and a good feed. Young trees need a lot of watering for the first year or so, it might be that last summer was too much for them.

They are lovely trees and the scent is divine, they will be wonderful in a few years.

Thanks @TonTonMacoute . Just watered and fed it there now. Lawn around it is very wet already. Buds seem to be very whizney. Yes they’re lovely. Was a big decision last year picking what type of trees to plant but I think they have a lovely shape and nice leaves.

I love lime trees too, great choice!
We planted a birch in summer last year and it struggled in heat (we watered lots) then threw out new growth not long before the real cold spell in December which obviously does off quickly. We were really worried this spring as it wasn't budding like neighbour's more established birch. We've been watering with feed every week since Feb and it's looking much better 🤞 hope feeding helps yours too.

I’m going to start feeding it from now on. I never thought of that. Really don’t want it to die on me. I put in 3 birches last year. They are fabulous too. They were one of the first trees to leaf this year and look amazing already. I’m thinking I might put in a few more because they grow fast and look great. I’m trying to create a little woodland area.

A woodland area sounds delightful! Hope feeding does help x
