Front door

What looks nice by the front door? I’m thinking a tree either side in a pot, but don’t know what would work / what height / where best to source. The front is north facing.

I like standard Holly, the ones that have berries although that might be horribly old fashioned.

I like them because they are evergreen and the berries add colour in Winter.

Ha, I was thinking of holly, and then I thought will this be ridic in summer! Glad to hear from someone else who feels holly is a good choice, thank you!

If you've got the space, money and energy you could always swap it for something different in the summer? Maybe a long flowering standard rose?

My DSis has an olive tree in a pot by her front door. I thought it might look odd in the middle of winter but she sticks fairly lights in it and it does look lovely
