David Austin roses bad service?

Has anyone used these guys recently? I paid for next day service, the roses are stuck with the courier and not coming, apparently they were not labelled as live plants and no one answers David Austin’s phone lines, after ten mins you’re told to leave a message and hung up on, and if you email they say they will respond in five days.

im quite shocked at the poor service levels. Have I just been unlucky or have they gone down hill?

Unlucky I’d say. The courier would definitely have seen they were live plants, labelling or not, from the packaging so I’m not sure this is DA’s issue. Courier problem more likely. Are you in mainland UK? Plants into N Ireland can be problematic.

I found DA customer service was excellent nice ordered a lot over the years. They replaced plants for me without a quibble. I emailed and they responded in a couple of hours. TBH you sound a bit hysterical over a one day delay on rose bushes. Why the urgency for one day delivery? I’m sure they’ll refund the courier charges for the delay.

Well I’m not sure hysterical is a rather pleasant description. But if expecting someone to answer the phone and a response to email within 5 days makes me hysterical then colour me hysterical

The only complaint I have about David Austin Roses is that if you order a gift card for someone, it has to go via courier instead of in the post, and takes 5 working days; I genuinely don't understand why they can't just post it in a nice envelope the same day.

Other than that, I've always found the plant deliveries really quick and the roses themselves excellent quality.

Never had a problem with DA customer service. They have always answered the phone promptly when I’ve rung them.

Recently I had a problem with the courier with a next day service, the box containing the rose was delivered on its side and crushed, despite the very clear instructions on the box. Luckily the rose was fine but I did alert DA to the issue with the courier, they sent me another rose even though I said they didn’t need to.

So I think you must be very unlucky.

No problems here. A few weeks back a rose purchased by a family member as a gift was delivered to me the next day without any issues.

When I ordered some bare root roses for myself and they failed to arrive, I called David Austin and they sent out replacements immediately. The original roses did eventually reach us and when I offered to return DA said to keep both lots.

Why the urgency for one day delivery I would use one day delivery to be sure I’d be in when it arrived
