Why is my olive tree shedding leaves?

I bought it last week from M&S and carried it home, no leaf shedding.

I’ve had it about a week and we’ve had plenty of sunshine. It’s in a spot with full sunshine. I’ve watered it twice, trying to be mindful of not watering it too much. There was a frost the other night and it was outside so I’ve brought it inside by a very sunny spot.

Since I brought it home, it’s dropping leaves at an alarming rate. Is it dying? If so, why? How could it be in fine in the daylight-less environment of M&S and then be unhappy with me/ my garden?

A lot of plants bought from supermarkets and the like have had a hard life. They are grown by the hundred thousand in fields in a nice warm country, then they are dug up and shoved in a pot and left to recover for a year or two. Then they are stuck in a container in the dark on a ship for a fortnight, and arrive in Holland, where they then spend ages (often six months in quarantine) sitting in a glasshouse. Then it is into a container again, on another ship or a lorry for a few days, arrive at the supermarket depot, kept at the wrong temperature with either too much or not enough light and water, and they finally end up on a shelf in a shop until some customer buys them. Said customer then wonders why the leaves start to drop off.

When you think about it like that, it's a wonder the plants survive at all.

I stuck mine in the ground next to the lavender. I then treated it like lavender and ignored it. Did well last year. And will
orobably treat it the same this year as well. It is in full sun spot and did well during the winter.

One of my plant did the same, fresh leaves were shed-I moved it to the different spot, with more light and the plant was absolutely fine here, no more shedding.

Pick a nice warm sunny spot for it and keep it there. Bringing it in and out will stress it out.
