What to put in shady area by front door

Hi

We have a fairly large drive way and I'd like to have a pot or two of something near the front door/porch. It's pretty shady most of the time.

We moved recently, and at the old house we had a chamomile plant which died in the heat of last summer - full sun so guessing too much for it?!

I'd really like something with a bit of colour if possible. Any ideas? As I say, it's pretty shady, however we do live in the south so the summers can be quite hot.

Thanks in advance!

Maybe have a few pots you can swap in and out seasonally - maybe a small evergreen shrub of some sort and then something like busy Lizzies for a splash of shade tolerant summer colour, bulbs and pansies in spring etc?

I have a couple of fuchsias that do really well in shade and they’re very colourful.
