Serial (plant) killer needs help

Hi all,

I need serious help. Everything I plant dies. I am am looking to get some hardy perennials to fill up a flowerbed. There is an apple tree in there which about 5 years old and a climbing rose if that makes any difference? It gets sun, but there is a 5ft fence behind it. I have tried a Hosta and that just went limp and straggly....

Urgh. So frustrating! I just want a low maintenance fill up bed! 🤦‍♀️

Any suggestions?

I imagine the tree is taking a fair bit of moisture from the soil. Try hardy geraniums (cranesbill), they are really resilient and slug-resistant and very pretty.

Vinca is pretty tough and grows well under trees.

Great - thank you - I'll look those up!

Plants like lavender and rosemary should be in with a chance too. (Not an expert gardener very much just a plant lover here!)

Rosemary
Alliums
