Soaking lupin seeds before sewing?

So i harvested some lupin seeds from my garden last summer and have kept them in the shed all winter in an envelope and only just got round to sewing them in a big seed tray indoors.

I've quickly googled the germination times and up comes: 'You MUST soak lupin seeds before sewing' ... 😳

I had great success with lupin seeds sewn indoors years ago without soaking them. But that was a from a packet not home grown ...

So, what do you think? Do you soak?

(i mean either way i'm not going to exhume 100+ tiny lupin seeds and soak them, but, i'd like to know if i've got any hope 😂)

Keep the tray watered/moist, hopefully with so many you'll at least get some germination. If it was me I'd probably poke around and take out a few to soak rather than wait 2-3 weeks, but maybe you'll see life sooner than that!

Sorry to be pedantic, but the verb is to sow.

Sewing involves needle and thread.

To answer your question I have heard that you can nick the seeds then soak them to improve the chances of germination, but I have never heard that you must do it. People say you should nick sweet pea seeds, but I never bother and they always germinate okay.

Thank you :)

Part of my problem is that my soil is mixed with pearlite - which is rounghly the same colour as the lupin seeds ... 😵

I'll add a bit more moisture to it. I have cling wrap over the tray to keep the moisture in so here's hoping ...

I'll give it 3 weeks.
(i'm good at being patient. I raised a ginka biloba from seed and that took 3 MONTHS to germinate)

UPDATE:

This morning there are 12 seedings!

That was quick! I'm delighted 😃
