Talk to me about plastic window boxes

Do you think they need more drainage holes drilling in them than are indicated? I'd love to have beautiful overflowing windowboxes this summer but I've had zero successt the last 2yrs. They're either too damp after rain or too dry in the sun. I don't want to buy new boxes in some other material.

Maybe enlarge the holes you have so they can’t easily be blocked?

If they are too dry in the sun, the only thing that's going to change that is if you water them more often.

Op I'm gonna disappoint you, but my experience with plastic window boxes is not good, the plant get easily overheated in the warmer months as the plastic just not isolate, also the watering is just not good- perhaps you can try to drill some holes as a drainage, but I never had a good looking plants at least for a longer period of time from plastic window boxes.

I have a great experience from simple terracotta ones, holds moisture, keep the plants cool in summer and my plants always thrive so well.
