Thinking of a career change & veering very much in this direction.

I'd love to know what you like / don't like about your job?

I once did a course at agricultural college, for recreation more than a career change, but there were several people on the course who were either already working in the industry or intending to do so.

One thing the teacher impressed on us is that you need to be clear whether you are going to just produce the design according to your customer's requirements, or whether you want a much more hands-on role and actually do at least some of the hard graft yourself, and/or project manage on-site.

Am liking the idea of project managing / starting my own business eventually.
But I can imagine it might be worth working for someone else initially to learn the ropes.
I went to a college open day and was delighted to learn that they teach the traditional technical drawing still, and it's not all on screens.
