Celandine I think

MrsMitford3 · 18/03/2023 15:27

My plant app which is both reviled and loved on MN says lesser celandine.
Also known as marsh pilewort and fig crowfoot

MrsMitford3 · 18/03/2023 15:28

and it is toxic under ingestion and in contact with sap😳

Hmm that’s interesting, www.woodlandtrust.org.uk/trees-woods-and-wildlife/plants/wild-flowers/lesser-celandine/ says it’s high in vitamin c and has been used to prevent scurvy (and to treat haemorrhoids!)

Thanks for the ID everyone 😊

Ime lots of plants described as 'toxic' are actually just mild irritants.

It advised that it should not be in grazing areas etc.

Probably safe in garden unless you lick it

I'm better safe than sorry on this one!
