I’m in the midst of designing a new part of my garden. Last year I realised that lavender grows really well here. So iM hoping to grow a line of them on a pathway.
But I would like another few plants to go in between to separate them. I know Echinacea goes well but are there anything else that I could possible add in for more colour that does well in the same type of soil and sun?

I had a neighbour that grew these, or something very similar anyway, in amongst her lavender. It looked lovely :
Verbena bonariensis 'Lollipop'

I personally might choose to have those but also intersperse with rosemary, which should enjoy similar conditions, but would remain green in the winter to give the bed a bit of life while the lavender is sleeping.

@CatMattress thanks. I will look at those.

@IhateMondaymornings i read that. But so many of them suggested putting things next to the lavender that still needed watering. I had two lots here last year. And the ones that I ignored and didn’t get any water near are huge. And the ones next to something else I had to water didn’t go well.

Any of the mediterranean plants will do well in the same kind of conditions. So all the herbs, lamb's ears, phormiums, also grasses like stipa, irises, some salvias, artemisias...

Take a look at beth chatto's gravel garden for inspiration.
