Roses in tub

I have an old trough which is about 1m by half a metre and 40cm deep.

can I grow roses in it? I am thinking about magic carpet or similar tub suitable rose, tub is in sheltered sunny spot. Perhaps they need a deep tub.

Disappointed this post isn't about leftover Christmas chocolate

Sorry that isn't deep enough. You can grow annual bedding plants in there which could look lovely but roses need somewhere for their roots to go.

I've got roses in containers -and they are very happy - but they are deeper than that....about 60/70 cms. You could try with something like a carpet rose but I don't think it would be happy for very long.

would be brilliant for aenoiums or annuals or ice plants.

Thanks. That’s what I suspected.
I have a big deep tub but can I face emptying and moving the trough and replacing it with big tub ….
