Skimmia

Id like to add skimmia (a male form and a female for berries) to a shady border. BUT are they as slow growing as claimed in the books? I’d really like them to be at least 1m tall, how long are they likely to take to reach that in a woodlandy border with good soil?

2 - 5yrs depending on conditions.

My 25 year old (“Reevesiana”) is now 1m across and about 0.3m high.

I’ve bought a female & male (japonica, rubella). I’ve decided to give them a couple years to establish, but if after that they do t start getting taller I’ll shift them elsewhere...

After 6 years mine is about half a meter high and three quarters of a meter wide. I have bright red berries for the first time.
