Iceberg Rose -raved about by Charlie Dimmock. Planted Winter ‘21 & has been flowering for months now.
Clematis Jingle Bells-winter flowering & recommend for the bees. First year flowering.
First snowdrop-the first of 100’s.
A couple of early flowers on the Forsythia.

I can’t wait to start planning & planting. I’m hoping for a bumper year for my Dahlias.

Nice to see some winter colour! That rose is on my wishlist this year.

SarahAndQuack · 29/01/2023 20:49

My mother had that clematis growing over the door of our house all the time I was a child - I'd forgotten how lovely it is! I must get one.

MereDintofPandiculation · 30/01/2023 10:12

Interesting to see Iceberg being raved about. It was one of the bog standard roses in the 1950s along with Peace and Queen Elizabeth.

I’m a fan of Cyclamen coum. The first flowers appear at end Dec and is in full flower now, giving a real feeling of spring on its way.

theemmadilemma · 30/01/2023 10:13

I just noticed buds on the base of my clematis this morning and got very excited!

The bulbs I planted are starting to appear, can't wait for spring proper.

LadyGardenersQuestionTime · 30/01/2023 10:15

What a lovely thread!

Snowdrops
Hellebores
Sarcocca
Daphne

MereDintofPandiculation · 30/01/2023 10:16

Iceberg was introduced in 1958. My mum must have bought it as soon as it appeared- I can’t remember a time when it wasn’t there, standing out as a huge bush in the centre of the rose bed

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 30/01/2023 10:17

Snow drops and cyclamen are the only things out for me. Lots of buds though!

Hobbesmanc · 30/01/2023 10:24

My mum had a huge iceberg rise in the front garden. I'd forgotten that there were must have rose variants like Peace

I've some Easter roses flowering. Snowdrops and some delicate aconites in the wooded area.

Seaitoverthere · 31/01/2023 09:53

I have been shopping as have a new garden with not a lot in it.

Now have a Coronilla glauca, hellebore, snowdrops, mahonia. Also a camellia with small white flowers someone gave me and moved with me. Also some tête-à-tête that I assume have been forced but are very cheerful that I couldn’t resist as 2 pots for £1.

MereDintofPandiculation · 31/01/2023 10:47

I deliberately tried to create winter interest as I find the long months of grey very depressing. So at the moment I have winter jasmine, winter flowering honeysuckle, winter flowering cherry, Viburnum bodnantense, Cyclamen coum, snowdrops, witch hazel, Cornus mas, hellebores, and mahonia.

Augend23 · 04/02/2023 18:13

I've got snow drops and crocuses out (just beginning), but nothing else flowering currently. I want to get a winter Daphne and some winter jasmine.

piedbeauty · 04/02/2023 18:31

I like the clematis! I'd like some more winter colour in the garden. The winter jasmine has been really good this year, though.

AdventFridgeOfShame · 04/02/2023 18:35

I'm on lesser celandine only, I do feel a tad jealous. But, I will catch up.

lilyfire · 04/02/2023 18:38

I have hellebores, witch hazel, forsythia and one lonely primrose flowering today.

StupidlyImperfect · 04/02/2023 19:44

I too have a bright yellow primrose flowering, I was carrying shopping in & meant to go back & take a pic but forgot.
A couple of crocus have also flowered in a planter.

Sadly I think my hellebore has died. I had been thrilled to get it discounted on death row, I know they take years until they flower. I did take seeds last year so I will plant them and hope for the best.

I like the sound of a winter cherry…off to Google.

I like the sound of a winter cherry…off to Google. They have smaller and sparcer flowers than the later flowering cherries, but for such a long period, December through to March, and the flowers stand out because there are no leaves. Prunus subhirtella

MereDintofPandiculation · 05/02/2023 10:06

Prunus subhirtella var autumnalis

Beebumble2 · 05/02/2023 10:36

Primroses, Clematis Jingle Bells, Hellebores, winter Jasmine and Viburnum Dawn. My sweet box and Camelia are in bud.

Beebumble2 · 05/02/2023 10:38

Forgot the Snowdrops! My winter flowering Cherry is in bud. It’s tiny and in a planter. I rescued it from neglect in a garden centre, for £1.

JamMakingWannaBe · 05/02/2023 10:50

I have a yellow geum. No idea why it's in flower so early, and I'd actually prefer it to flower later.

VenusClapTrap · 05/02/2023 15:47

I’ve got snowdrops, crocus, a Hellebore, Leucojum, cyclamen, one dwarf Iris and a mystery alpine.

Justtrying · 05/02/2023 16:25

Loving this thread, no green fingers here but I do try. Planted a couple of bare root roses that I picked up in tesco, fingers crossed its not too cold for them, frost last night and looking like another tonight. Cleared a few weeds from the front boarders and have a few snowdrops, polyanthus, one crocus and few tete a tetes about to bloom. Can't wait for things to warm up. But being up north, I've got at least another 6 weeks before I do any planting.

StupidlyImperfect · 18/02/2023 12:27

I’ve been pottering today, it’s dull and grey but this little display lifted my mood.
