I bought an Aster frikartii Monch from a local allotment shop and it was marvelous. Covered in purple flowers for ages. It's now completely brown. Do I leave it as is and it will spring back to life once spring is here? Or should I be cutting it back? Or is it just dead?

They do die back in the autumn so when they've gone brown just cut them right down to the ground and they will come back in the spring/summer. They are great plants that flower for months on end.

Thanks @TheDogsMother that's great news. They are amazing and I don't think it cost much at all. Definitely plan on buying more.
