I must tackle rampant bamboo and ivy and wonder what's the best way to kill it.

I've not used any weedkiller ever In my garden for 15 year's but I need help with the bamboo and ivy. Any ideas?

From experience, the only way to get rid of bamboo is to dig it out, and you'll need to dig down at least 1m, probably more.

I got a gardener in to to the digging, then filled the hole with the strongest weed killer I could find, filled the hole and then as an extra precaution, covered it in thick plastic tarp for two years.

The stuff is a nightmare!!!

Ivy is fairly easy to rip out. It comes back but then you come back. Perseverance will win.

Bamboo is really hard to remove. We found the only way is to dig (and dig deeply) then keep an eye to dig out any bits that come back. Three years later I think it has more or less gone

I'd dig out if you can. Sorry they'll only come back. We dug out a lot of ivy from our garden, that and bind weed. Worth it though.

I planted one of those tiny indoor pot bamboo plants years ago in a dark patch in a corner of my garden. Biggest mistake ever, still trying to dig out what turned into a 3m square patch that was 4m high. Anyone got a panda for hire?
