Where to put fruit trees

We were given two apple trees and a cherry tree for Christmas. How far apart should we plant them?
We have a longish strip of earth down one side of the garden about six feet wide. we thought of maybe putting them in there?

With the apple trees, you really need to know what rootstock they are on. It can run from a full sized tree (remember childhood story books with people picking apples from the top of a ladder?) to bushes which can be grown in a pot and need staking for all their lives. Look on the label for something like M6 or M27.

Also depends on training. You could train them in one of the tree shapes, or as an espalier, flat against the fence

I think they're both M9.

If you're me, you put them everywhere and then buy a few more, until you hit the tipping point and can't give away the fruit as fast as it ripens 🤦🏻‍♀️
