Hoping you eill be able to help me identify the rose tree without any pics!
It was a deep red but not purple.
It had a glorious and beautiful old-fashioned proper rose scent (NOT tudor rose which makes me ill)
It was a tree, about 4ft tall when I was given it and flowered in its first season in my garden, no sulking!
It was really important to me as it was given to me by my favourite aunt on the occasion of my mum's funeral - there was a knockon the door early on the day of mum's funeral and there was my aunt with the tree obvs straight from a nursery somewhere between XDevon and Suffolk, mostlikely over in Suffolk; " I'm not staying and will see you there but QMI want you to have this now, put it in the garden as it is, bagged up and plant it this week" and she was off.
It did well. It was lovely. And then one year I couldn't find it. None of use believed it was gone, how could it have? That bit of the garden was full of roses of various sorts, all been there a long time, much longer than mine, and I had planted garlic and parsley and it was all getting a bit overgrown as MI had deteriorated quite a lot of that last year (ms).
DD eventually got some really nice helpful gardeners io dig around that d and sort it all out. They confirmed there was no sign, NO SIGN, of my rose.
I don't know what rose it was, I cn't remember.my aunt is gone, my cousin's know nothing about it.
I really badly want to replace it.
Van any of you help me?
